ACADEMICS

Ever ask your child about what they did in school today and get "nothing" in response? Here is the remedy! Below you will find links and descriptions for all of the amazing learning experiences here at the Bradley.

Humanities

At the Bradley our Humanities work helps us build students' skills in critical thinking, research, reading, and writing, which helps them to become effective communicators both orally and in writing. Our goal is to ensure they become critical thinkers about the world around them, learn empathy for others, and develop into leaders in the Bradley and East Boston community.

Science & Innovation

Every Bradley student has multiple opportunities to engage in real-world problem-solving. They are challenged to hypothesize and engineer solutions by asking questions, researching, imagining possible solutions or hypothesis, planning a solution/experiment, creating and testing prototypes, analyzing the data and drawing conclusions to improve their hypothesis or their designs, and finally sharing their findings.

Math- EnVisions

All students receive a double block of mathematics instruction every day. Science will be taught 2x per week in K0-1, 3x per week in 2-4 and 5x per week in 5-6. Additionally, all students will engage in an Innovation enrichment course. This can include a full math period plus a math acceleration block or a double block with accelerations embedded. EnVisions deepens students' abilities to think mathematically. When students connect ideas, they deepen their understanding. EnVisions is organized into clusters of connected topics and lessons. Students learn to see relationships, ask questions, and try different approaches. Problem-based learning drives students to engage in productive struggle.

Literature Arts- Fishtank

Our students access high quality and relevant literature in the classroom throughout the day. We want students to see themselves and their lived experiences in texts while also learning about and engaging in thoughtful conversations about communities that are different from their own. This will be accessed through shared texts as well as independent reading texts. We will accelerate student learning through targeted small group literacy instruction. These accelerations will vary by grade, but will include access to phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension and writing as core components of literacy. Additionally, students will have Humanities in 5-6 and Theater K-6.

Visual Arts

In our Visual Arts classes, we are stimulating creativity and problem-solving. We introduce them to core concepts that help them tap into their artistic intelligence and grow their confidence, self-esteem and encourage their self-expression. Our visual arts  program builds their courage and confidence, two core values here at the Bradley!

Physical Education

Every student at the Bradley is engaged in improving their physical fitness and wellness in a supportive and nurturing physical education class. They work collaboratively with their peers to develop their motor skills, build confidence, improve their strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular endurance. Our students have the opportunity to assume leadership, cooperate with others, and improve their physical and mental health as they set and strive for personal goals.
